Basketball Recap: Bluegrass United Takes a Loss

Bluegrass United was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the LKY Saints, falling 68-48. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Saints this season, with their most recent defeat being a 55-49 loss two weeks ago.

Despite the defeat, Bluegrass United saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Everett Pieratt dropped a double-double with 27 points and ten boards. The contest was Pieratt's third in a row with at least 17 points. Landon Graham was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Bluegrass United smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

Marshall McCartney was a one-man wrecking crew for LKY as he went 9 for 12 en route to 20 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezekiel Taylor, who went 5 of 7 to rack up 12 points and six boards.

Bluegrass United's loss dropped their record down to 6-19. As for LKY, their victory bumped their record up to 6-16.

Coming up, Bluegrass United will take on Anderson County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bluegrass United is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season. As for LKY, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 76-67 defeat against Christian Educational Consortium on the 8th.
