Homer and Kenai Central are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Mariners will head out on the road to square off against the Kardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Homer is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Redington, who was ranked 24th at the time (Homer was ranked 22nd). The Mariners skirted past the Huskies 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Mariners in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won nine in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jessica Plumlee, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Amakah Stineff was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

Homer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They are 6-3 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Kenai Central and Homer had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Kardinals walked away with an 11-7 victory over the Mariners on Friday. The game was the first time the Kardinals have beaten the Mariners on their field since May 27, 2023.

The win got Kenai Central back to even at 7-7. As for Homer, their victory bumped their record up to 6-13.

Homer came up short against Kenai Central when the teams last played on Friday, falling 11-7. Can the Mariners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
