Softball Recap: Southwest Louisiana Homeschool's Winning Streak Snapped at 14 Games

It was a good run, but Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak dating back to last season on Thursday. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Christian Home Educators Fellowship Patriots. The loss was Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool's first of the season.

Eliza Long put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Long wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Dommert, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Alyse Sistrunk was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christian Home Educators Fellowship struck out 13 times.

Having lost for the first time this season, Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool fell to 3-1. As for Christian Home Educators Fellowship, the victory (which was their tenth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Legacy Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on March 10th. As for Christian Home Educators Fellowship, they will head out on the road to square off against Good Samaritan HomeSchool at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Good Samaritan HomeSchool is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
