Baseball Recap: Little Axe Has No Trouble Against Star-Spencer

Little Axe's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Star-Spencer Bobcats a 10-0 shutout. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Indians yet this season.

Gene Curnett made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Curnett was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Little Axe let Kolton Casey and Cash Hicks run wild. Casey scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Hicks scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave Casey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcel Almanza, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Little Axe's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Star-Spencer, they dropped their record down to 0-14 with the loss, which was their 26th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Little Axe will be playing in front of their home fans against Del City at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Star-Spencer, they will take on Classen SAS at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
