Basketball Recap: Sandhills/Thedford Knights vs. Ainsworth Bulldogs
It was a good run, but the Sandhills/Thedford Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ainsworth. Sandhills/Thedford was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Leading Ainsworth to victory were Gracyn Painter and Kendyl Delimont. Painter scored 11 points along with three steals, while Delimont scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Sandhills/Thedford's loss dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Ainsworth, they pushed their record up to 10-8 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Sandhills/Thedford will face off against the Broncos on Tuesday. Mullen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Knights are ranked 80th). As for Ainsworth, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Bison at 3:30 p.m. on February 3rd. McCook and the Bulldogs are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
