Baseball Game Preview: Neshannock Lancers vs. Laurel Spartans

For the second straight game, Neshannock will face off against Laurel. Neshannock will take on Laurel at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Neshannock is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Neshannock and Laurel, and Neshannock kept the tradition alive. Neshannock narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Laurel 9-7.

Denny Joseph looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Lucca Mezzanotte was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Hunter Wilson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Neshannock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Neshannock's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.3 runs this season. As for Laurel, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Laurel's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Neshannock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .384.
