Softball Game Preview: Eastside Spartans vs. Gate City Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Eastside will face off against Gate City. Eastside is taking a road trip to face off against Gate City at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastside has five straight wins, Gate City has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Eastside will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Gate City, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. Eastside never let Gate City get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Wednesday.

Braelyn Hall made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Hall wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rylie Bower, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Bower hit this season. Haley Day was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Gate City's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Eastside, their record is now 5-0.
