Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Ocosta

Ocosta entered their tilt with Morton/White Pass on Saturday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They snuck past the Morton/White Pass Timberwolves with a 64-59 win. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 65-22 victory the Timberwolves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2022.

Ocosta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kayden Turner, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 21 points. Turner's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Sonny Beard was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Ocosta was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Ocosta pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Morton/White Pass, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ocosta will host Willapa Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Willapa Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games. As for Morton/White Pass, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Toledo at 7:00 p.m. Morton/White Pass has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
