Baseball Recap: Lamesa Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Lamesa, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Crane Cranes on Saturday. For the Tornadoes, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 win the Cranes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2019.

Jonah Muniz made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other pitching news, Christian Ogeda Zorola tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Adam Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Lamesa is 2-1 when Garcia posts three or more hits, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Garza, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Lamesa's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Crane, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
