Football Recap: Southern Guilford Starts off Right with Win over Ragsdale

Southern Guilford took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ragsdale Tigers, sneaking past 19-16. This was payback for the Storm, who suffered a 33-14 loss the last time these two teams met.

Robert Scott had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 97 yards and one TD, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and one score.

Southern Guilford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jayden Royal and Scott. Another thorn in Ragsdale's side was Kaleb 'Mike' Lindsay, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made six total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Ragsdale still got an impressive performance from Amire Barnes, who rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Matthew D Y C e helped out on the ground, rushing for 81 yards.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Guilford will venture away from home to square off against Ben L. Smith at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ragsdale, they will head out to face off against Southeast Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
