Softball Game Preview: Justin Garza Guardians vs. Kerman Lions

Justin Garza has won nine straight games at home, while Kerman has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. Justin Garza will square off against Kerman at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Justin Garza barely beat Dos Palos the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Justin Garza never let Dos Palos get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Tuesday. The Guardians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Gracie Uribe's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Harmony Cook, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Escobedo, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Justin Garza was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kerman). They blew past Madera South 19-0 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now won four in a row.

Kerman's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Justin Garza, their win bumped their record up to 11-0.
