Basketball Recap: Lamar Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lamar had no problem doing just that on Monday. They walked away with a 70-60 victory over the New Heights Christian Academy Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

New Heights Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adam Stanton, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 14 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Logan Decker, who posted seven points and 11 rebounds.

Lamar's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for New Heights Christian Academy, they moved to 21-7 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Lamar Tigers face off against Thayer Bobcats on Friday. Lamar knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Thayer likes a good challenge. New Heights Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
