Basketball Recap: Wayne Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Wayne waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 63-55 victory over the Piute Thunderbirds. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 51-44 back in December of 2024.

Makayla Jones had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was AJ VanDyke, who posted 17 points and seven boards.

Wayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Wayne's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Piute, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-3.
