Basketball Game Preview: Winter Haven Blue Devils vs. Auburndale Bloodhounds

The Winter Haven Blue Devils will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Auburndale Bloodhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Winter Haven proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 45) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-56 win over Haines City. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since December 9, 2024.

Corey Bailey Jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 50% from the field en route to 22 points and eight rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Hall, who posted 11 points along with five boards and four steals.

Winter Haven smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Auburndale, as they earned their first away win of the season. They blew past Poinciana, posting a 78-30 victory. That 48 point margin sets a new team best for the Bloodhounds this season.

Auburndale has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points over those games. As for Winter Haven, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Winter Haven suffered a grim 69-47 defeat to Auburndale in their previous matchup back in January. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
