Soccer Game Preview: Gilmer vs. Chestatee

The Gilmer Bobcats will face off against the Chestatee War Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gilmer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season.

Gilmer barely beat LaFayette the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 6-2 margin over the Ramblers on Thursday. It was an even better day for Yenifer Lopez as she scored three goals for her team.

Meanwhile, Chestatee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Gainesville who was credited with the win. The Red Elephants got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Chestatee's zero.

Gilmer's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those three matches. As for Chestatee, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Gilmer took their victory against Chestatee in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0 score. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the War Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
