Basketball Recap: Washington Find Success

There's no place like home for Washington, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They pulled ahead with a 43-42 photo finish over the Independence Patriots on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 38-36 on January 9th.

Washington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but AnyaLisa Carino led the charge by putting up 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Carino has scored at least a third of Washington's points. Alicia Mendez was another key player, posting 11 points.

Washington's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Independence, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Washington will venture away from home to face off against Desert Edge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Independence has already played their next contest (against La Joya Community), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
