Lawrence North extended their postseason success on Thursday against North Central. They had just enough and edged out the Panthers 18-17. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Jaida Wheat, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ginger Strelow, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lawrence North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Lawrence North's third in a row) raised their record to 13-15. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for North Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14-1 record this season.
