Baseball Recap: Corvian Community Wins Going Away Against Piedmont Community Charter

Corvian Community never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots 13-0. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Holden Parks made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Corvian Community got a massive performance out of Gavin McElhinny, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. The Cardinals are 7-1 when McElhinny posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brennan Frey, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

The victory got Corvian Community back to even at 9-9. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Corvian Community will head out to face off against East Gaston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they will host Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
