Basketball Recap: Hickory Christian Academy Comes Up Short

If Hickory Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 43-20 takedown of Salem Baptist Christian last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hickory Christian Academy Knights were dealt a 73-34 loss at the hands of the Carolina Day Wildcats on Friday. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-11.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carolina Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keana Smith, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. Smith is becoming a predictor of Carolina Day's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 14-3 (and 2-4 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Layla Hunter, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards.

Hickory Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Carolina Day, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.

Hickory Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carolina Day, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats take on the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
