Basketball Preview: Calvary Day School Cougars vs. Fayetteville Christian Warriors
The Calvary Day School Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Fayetteville Christian Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
While Cougars fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Saturday's season opener. They put the hurt on Carolina Day with a sharp 60-36 win on Saturday. The Cougars pushed the score to 45-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats had little chance of recovering from.
Kayla George went supernova, shooting 54% from the field on her way to 26 points along with five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Liz Eigenauer, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 13 points.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cape Fear Christian Academy 50-13. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Calvary Day School took a serious blow against Fayetteville Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2015, falling 61-23. Thankfully for the Cougars, Abigail Bullock (who shot 73% from the field en route to 18 points and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
