Softball Recap: Bishop Carroll Finds Playoff Glory Versus West

With a playoff win on the line, Bishop Carroll rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the West Chargers with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Bishop Carroll got a great performance from Emerson Hiebert as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hiebert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bishop Carroll let Keira Stripling and Allyson Orth run wild. Stripling went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Orth went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Stripling has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiersten Jones, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Bishop Carroll hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive games.

Bishop Carroll is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.

Bishop Carroll wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-0 victory against Hays on the 21st. West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
