Basketball Game Preview: Miller Buccaneers vs. Alice Coyotes

The Miller Buccaneers will head out to face off against the Alice Coyotes at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Miller had to suffer through a 91-59 loss at the hands of Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 890th, while the Eagles are ranked 15th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Anthony Perryman, who posted nine points and five assists. Perryman is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Trevor Long, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points.

Meanwhile, Alice hadn't done well against Corpus Christi Moody recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Alice blew past Corpus Christi Moody 69-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Coyotes have posted since December 12, 2024.

Miller better keep an eye on Ryan Ynfante. He was instrumental in Alice's win, going 12 of 16 on his way to 26 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That's the most boards Ynfante has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Briggs Hoffman, who had six points and 11 rebounds.

Alice smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Alice's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-13. As for Miller, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
