Softball Recap: Albert Lea Comes Up Short

Albert Lea fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Winona on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Winhawks by a score of 11-10. Even if the Tigers couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Margaret Olson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Wachols, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Albert Lea is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. As for Winona, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

Coming up, Albert Lea will take on Stewartville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Winona, they will square off against Century at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
