Preview: Southwestern Trojans vs. Allegany-Limestone Gators
Southwestern has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Allegany-Limestone Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Southwestern lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Fredonia 82-46. Southwestern has not had much luck with Fredonia recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Allegany-Limestone, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-49 loss to Salamanca on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Allegany-Limestone can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while Salamanca is ranked 89th).
Southwestern has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Allegany-Limestone, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-9.
Southwestern was able to grind out a solid victory over Allegany-Limestone in their previous meeting back in January, winning 57-50. Does Southwestern have another victory up their sleeve, or will Allegany-Limestone turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
