The Clyde Fliers will square off against the Sandusky Blue Streaks at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Clyde will be strutting in after a victory while Sandusky will be coming in after a defeat.
On Thursday, Clyde needed a bit of extra time to put away Elyria Catholic. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fliers have posted since April 5, 2024.
Jonathan Lantz was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits. Lantz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Adam Young and Mason Flewelling did most of the damage at the plate: Young went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Flewelling got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Young a new career-high. Deacon Brown was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Clyde kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.4.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four games, Sandusky finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to Perkins. The Blue Streaks haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Sandusky's loss dropped their record down to 10-9-1. As for Clyde, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Clyde took their victory against Sandusky in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 14-4 score. Do the Fliers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Streaks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
