Basketball Recap: Deontae Ware's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Harvey over Perry

Harvey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-59 heartbreaker at the hands of the Perry Pirates. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-63 back in December of 2024.

Harvey's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deontae Ware, who went 7 of 13 en route to 16 points. What's more, Ware also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Dom Snyder was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points.

Harvey's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Perry, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harvey will venture away from home to square off against Geneva at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Geneva knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Harvey likes a good challenge. As for Perry, they will face off against South at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
