Softball Recap: Pearsall Takes a Loss

Pearsall was the 3-2 winner over Floresville when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Mavericks took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers/Jaguars on Tuesday.

Kirsten Morales was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Morales was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Alayna Zapata made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Hughes, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Pearsall's loss dropped their record down to 16-10-1. As for Floresville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-17.

Coincidentally, Pearsall and Floresville will both be playing Uvalde the next time they take the field. The Mavericks will host the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Tigers/Jaguars will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
