Basketball Recap: Riverside-Durham Comes Up Short

Riverside-Durham has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northern Nash Knights on Saturday. The contest marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Jah'Marzea Williams was his usual excellent self, putting up 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals for Northern Nash. Williams has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times he's played. Quantay James was another key player, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Riverside-Durham's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Northern Nash, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Riverside-Durham will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hillside at 8:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. The game will give the Pirates their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Northern Nash, they will venture away from home to challenge North Edgecombe at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' defense better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 64.2 points per game this season.
