Volleyball Game Preview: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights vs. Isle of Wight Academy Chargers

The Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Isle of Wight Academy Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot is leaving town to face Isle of Wight Academy after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Knights fell just short of Grace Christian School by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Knights have struggled against the Kings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 17-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 15-6.

Despite the defeat, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avery Poore had 20 digs and three assists.

Meanwhile, Isle of Wight Academy posted their closest win since September 4, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past Norfolk Christian 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Isle of Wight Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-9.

Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot came up short against Isle of Wight Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2021, falling 3-1. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
