Softball Recap: Ray Comes Up Short

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Ray and Hayden had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Ray Bearcats took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hayden Lobos on Monday. The Bearcats have struggled against the Lobos recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Mia Barajas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Kaylee Servant was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Ray's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Hayden, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ray will welcome San Tan Foothills at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. San Tan Foothills has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.83 runs per game on average), something Ray will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hayden, they will take on Fort Thomas at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
