Basketball Recap: Aiden Garcia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Santa Rosa over Lyford

Santa Rosa has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 47-34 to the Lyford Bulldogs on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-22 back in November.

Santa Rosa's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Garcia, who posted nine points and seven steals. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Garza, who had six points in addition to 12 boards and three steals.

Santa Rosa's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-5. As for Lyford, their record now sits at an identical 12-5.

Santa Rosa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 81-37 defeat against Rio Hondo on the 20th. As for Lyford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-28 victory against Raymondville on the 20th.
