Baseball Game Preview: Jersey Village Falcons vs. Memorial Mustangs

Jersey Village and Memorial are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Falcons will face off against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Jersey Village comes in on three and Memorial on 17.

Last Friday, Jersey Village made easy work of Cypress Ridge and carried off a 12-2 victory. Considering the Falcons have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Ambrus was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Jersey Village's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-14 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Kallus, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Jersey Village was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Memorial put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Cypress Ranch a 6-0 shutout. Memorial is also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 11th contest they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Memorial's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-3-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Jersey Village, their record is now 8-14.

Jersey Village suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Memorial when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
