Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Railsplitters vs. Canton Cobras

The Lincoln Railsplitters will be taking part in a tournament against the Canton Cobras at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Lincoln proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 23) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They pulled ahead with a 46-45 photo finish over Belleville. The win was all the more spectacular given the Railsplitters' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th in Michigan, while the Tigers are ranked 34th in Michigan).

Meanwhile, Canton strolled past Plymouth with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 53-39.

Lincoln pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points over those games. As for Canton, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Lincoln suffered a grim 61-37 defeat to Canton in their previous meeting back in February of 2018. Thankfully for Lincoln, Chase Meredith (who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
