Baseball Recap: Rio Rico Comes Up Short

Cholla hit Rio Rico with a four-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hawks took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chargers earlier this season, when they won 7-6.

Rio Rico saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rafael Echeverria, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Rio Rico's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Cholla, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-5 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rio Rico will take on Sunnyside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cholla, they will square off against Douglas at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
