Basketball Recap: Aquinas Takes a Loss

Aquinas lost against Lincoln Christian back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Aquinas Monarchs were dealt an 81-36 loss at the hands of the Lincoln Christian Crusaders. The Monarchs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-14.

When it comes to explaining why Aquinas lost, don't look at Riley Campbell. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-7 to rack up 15 points. Campbell continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Miriam Frasher, who posted ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kena Ailes, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards. Ailes is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 56% in the last six games she's played. Jessa Hueser was another key player, going 7-for-11 on her way to 18 points and three steals.

Aquinas has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Lincoln Christian, they pushed their record up to 20-0 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Aquinas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-42 defeat against Archangels Catholic on the 11th. As for Lincoln Christian, they have also already played their next matchup, a 77-39 win against Beatrice on the 11th.
