Basketball Game Preview: Uintah Utes vs. Timpanogos Timberwolves

The Uintah Utes will take on the Timpanogos Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Friday, Uintah lost to Provo on the road by a 84-66 margin. The Utes have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Timpanogos fought the good fight in their overtime match against Payson on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.

Uintah will have to contain Gavin Messmer as he made an impact in Timpanogos' last game. He went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 26 points. The dominant performance gave Messmer a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jack Johnson, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Timpanogos has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-6 record this season. As for Uintah, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Things could have been worse for Uintah, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 78-60 loss to Timpanogos when the teams last played back in January.
