After a string of four wins, Loris's good fortune finally ran out  on Friday. They took a hard  50-32 fall against the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings  (they are ranked 60th, while the Chiefs are ranked 16th).
 Despite the  defeat, Loris saw an underclassman step up: freshman  Dazena Capers  posted 15 points.
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Myrtle Beach to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Janiyah Bragg, who  went 7 of 13  on her way to 15  points and five  rebounds. Those 15 points gave  Bragg a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Madison Vereen, who  went 6 of 13  on her way to 15  points in addition to six  boards and five  steals.
Loris' loss  ended  a  five-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 5-2. As for North Myrtle Beach, the  win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
 Loris wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next  match,  a  37-18  victory against Conway on the 16th. As for North Myrtle Beach, they also  didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  game,  a  45-37  win against Laney on the 17th.
