Baseball Recap: Fillmore Triumphs

Fillmore won the last time they faced Malibu and things went their way on Friday too. The Flashes came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sharks, sneaking past 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Flashes.

Thomas Alamillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Fillmore's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 5-2 (and 4-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Fillmore's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Miguel Rincon, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. The Flashes are undefeated when Rincon posts two or more runs, but 4-13 otherwise. Joseph Alamillo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Fillmore's record now sits at 9-13. As for Malibu, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Looking ahead, Fillmore will take on Hueneme at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Flashes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Malibu, they are taking a road trip to square off against Santa Paula at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Cardinals have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
