Basketball Recap: West Wendover Comes Up Short

West Wendover lost against Spring Creek back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The West Wendover Wolverines took a 52-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spring Creek Spartans. The game marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, West Wendover still got an impressive performance from Adryan Carlos, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 16 points and three steals. That was a full 41% of West Wendover's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trea Hendriks, who had seven points and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Tayden Francis, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 boards for Spring Creek. What's more, Francis also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Snowdon Bear Williams, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

West Wendover's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Spring Creek, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

West Wendover didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-49 loss against Virgin Valley on the 28th. As for Spring Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 81-68 defeat against Needles on the 28th.
