Scottsbluff came tearing into Thursday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.4 points), and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 84-44 win over the Gering Bulldogs. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Scottsbluff's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nate Kelley, who on his way to 21 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Kelley is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last six games he's played. Esai Sabala was another key player, en route to 17 points.

Scottsbluff pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Gering, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.
