Softball Recap: Byron Comes Up Short

Byron had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-6 to make it five. They came up short against the Oregon Hawks, falling 16-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Oregon, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

For Oregon's part, Olivia Ortega was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Ortega a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Dannhorn, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Byron wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Dixon on the 22nd. As for Oregon, they have also already played their next matchup, a 15-0 win against Lutheran on the 22nd.
