Baseball Recap: Cranston East Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against La Salle Academy, Cranston East was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Central Knights. For the Thunderbolts, this counts as revenge for the 8-6 win the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Patrick OGrady looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Yadiel Ventura was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Cranston East's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

Cranston East is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Central, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cranston East will take on Mt. Hope at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central, they will face off against Toll Gate at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.77 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
