Basketball Recap: Granville Central Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Granville Central duked it out withCarrboro on Friday. The Granville Central Panthers were outmatched by the Carrboro Jaguars and fell 72-34. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

It was another big night for Bakari Watkins, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 19 points and five boards for Carrboro. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Kanjorski, who posted six points along with seven assists and three steals.

Granville Central has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Carrboro, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-9.

Granville Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Durham School of the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carrboro, they are taking a road trip to challenge Southern School of Energy and Sustainability at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
