Softball Recap: Illinois Lutheran Has No Trouble Against Thornton Fractional North

While Illinois Lutheran put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Thornton Fractional North. Illinois Lutheran put the hurt on Thornton Fractional North with a sharp 18-0 victory. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for the Chargers this season.

Madison Permenter was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. That hit was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Lola Spada and Emma Nagle did most of the damage at the plate: Spada went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI, while Nagle went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Spada has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Azaylia Sanchez, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Illinois Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Illinois Lutheran now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Thornton Fractional North, their loss dropped their record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Illinois Lutheran will venture away from home to challenge Donovan at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thornton Fractional North, they will welcome Simeon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
