Basketball Recap: Stratton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Arickaree

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stratton). They came out on top against the Arickaree Bison by a score of 59-50 on Saturday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Bison are ranked 181st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Arickaree lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ja'Niya Smith, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds. What's more, she also posted a 50% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Raeya Schrock was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.

Stratton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 16-5 record this season. Arickaree has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Stratton will take on Granada at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Arickaree, they will face off against Fleming at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
