Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Tywan Williamson and Jadarius Mcquay Lead Lafayette to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fort White, Lafayette was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They skirted past the Hamilton County Trojans 63-61. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 76-56 back in December of 2024.

Leading Lafayette to victory were Jadarius McQuay and Tywan Williamson. McQuay went 6 of 11 en route to 13 points and eight boards, while Williamson went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Those 13 points gave McQuay a new career-high. Jordan Murphy was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Despite the loss, Hamilton County still got an impressive performance from Kavon Horne, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylian Gandy, who scored ten points.

Lafayette has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Hamilton County, they dropped their record down to 5-16 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Lafayette didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-26 loss against Chiefland on the 31st. Hamilton County has also already played their next contest, a 76-41 defeat against Union County on the 31st.
