Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield Quakers vs. Greenwood Woodmen

Two dominant forwards in Noah Smith and Isaac O'Neal are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Plainfield Quakers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Greenwood Woodmen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Plainfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Plainfield came up short against Center Grove and fell 68-60. While the Quakers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 19-14 in the first quarter.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Smith, who went 8 of 10 on his way to 20 points along with five boards and three blocks. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Landon Gilliatt, who went 5 for 12 en route to 16 points and six assists.

Meanwhile, Greenwood came up short against Greenfield-Central on Saturday, falling 70-49. The Woodmen haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Plainfield's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 42.9% in those games and 30% outside of them. As for Greenwood, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
