Columbus East and Bloomington North are an even 3-3 against one another since August of 2015, but not for long. The Olympians will take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus East is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Floyd Central just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by the Highlanders 56-28.

Despite the defeat, Columbus East got top-tier performance from Kyson Villarreal, who threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 51 yards and one score. Villarreal is becoming a predictor of the Olympians' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Dallas Dykstra was in the mix as well, providing Columbus East with two TDs.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Bloomington North over Jeffersonville in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cougars blew the Red Devils out of the water with a 36-3 final score. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Bloomington North's win came from a few key players Columbus East will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was John Bargen, who threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns. Carter Matthew helped Bargen out on the ground, rushing for 88 yards and one score on only eight carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bloomington North was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Columbus East's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Bloomington North, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Columbus East came up short against Bloomington North in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 28-20. Thankfully for the Olympians, Dash King (who rushed for 64 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 248 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
