Softball Game Preview: Cesar Chavez Champions vs. Camelback Spartans

For the second straight game, Cesar Chavez will face off against Camelback. The Champions will venture away from home to face off against the Spartans at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Cesar Chavez will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Cesar Chavez took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Camelback by a score of 14-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory continues a trend for the Champions in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won six in a row.

Esmeralda White made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Gianna Jaquez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024. Mariah Flores was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Cesar Chavez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Cesar Chavez's record now sits at 4-15. As for Camelback, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-16.
