Softball Recap: Longmeadow Lancers vs. Holyoke Purple Knights

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Longmeadow brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Holyoke Purple Knights a 12-0 shutout on Friday. Considering Longmeadow's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Isabella Blue made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Blue has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Blue was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with a stolen base and an RBI.

In other batting news, Delaney Schrager and Lexi Winkler did most of the damage at the plate: Schrager scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Winkler scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Schrager is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen two or more in the last three games she's played.
